    3. This is a family name. It may have originated with the surnames Green and Berry. If You read early Pope County records, you will find some even more strange than that. At one time, I thought of publishing a book of unusual names, then thought better of it. Some people would take offense where none was intended. This name should help you discover predecessors. Like you way, why would someone name their child Greenberry? Unless it was a family name.
