Cindy: I cannot believe I am sitting here reading your e-mail to the Pope County page about Silas Vaughn and Phoebe Ann Leverett. I have been trying to find someone related to them for a long time. I know that Silas and Phoebe moved to West Frankfort, Illinois many years ago, I can remember visiting them there. Several years ago I tried to locate a "Vaughn" through information from the phone company, none was listed in West Frankfort. I had about given up hope of reaching any of Silas's relation. Silas was my step grandfather's brother. My step grandfather was Wesley (Humpy) Vaughn. He married my grandmother, Lou Ona (Henderson) Barton Vaughn. They lived in Metropolis, Illinois (where I was born). As a matter of fact, I have just come into possession of my grandmother's picture album and there are pictures of Silas and family in it. Until reading your e-mail I did not know Silas was born in Stonefort. My father, Clyde Barton was also born there. The Barton's and Vaughn's must have known each other long before moving to Metropolis. How are you related to Silas and where do you live? Can't wait to hear from you!!!!!
