Connie ; I think you're absolutely right about who this James VAUGHN was but there are so many piculiarities and similiarities between your GGrandfather and mine while liveng so close to one another at about the same point in time that I believe there probably was a connection someway. Certainly they each had a tremendous respect for someone named George each one having given one of their children that name but then I have found that same situation just about everywhere I've researched the VAUGHN family. In TN. I found a James VAUGHN & a George VAUGHN both in the TN. 44th Inf. Regiment serving together at the same time for the CSA. during the Civil War. When I researched all the VAUGHNs that served with the CSA. durihg that time in the South I had 25 pages of VAUGHNs & another 20 some odd pages of VAUGHANs using the extra "A" whenever thay felt like using it and there were more James & Gorges than I cared to count. Kent.
