He was looking for information for John James Jacobs, born Sept 30, 1857 in Eddyville, IL and Etha IndaAnn Lauderdale, born March 26, 1858 in Eddyville, IL. I didn't pursue this because I don't believe it is my family. My Greatgrandfather was Wm. Henry Jacobs, married to Pernecia Pugh. My grandfather was James Jacobs, married to Sarah Della Yates. Also found this on the Jacobs school in a publication on the 75 country schools of Pope County: "The Jacobs school was located in the southeastern part of Pope County on the banks of the Ohio River. Not a lot of information is available about this school. It was probably like the other little one room country schools of those days. I.A. Russell of Hamletsburg taught in 1910 for a salary of $45.00 a month. Since Hamletsburg was close to the neighboring school district of Jacobs, it is possible that he lived at home and rode a horse back and forth. Declining enrollment closed the school and sent the children to a school in the area where they lived." Just checked the marriage records for Pope County and found this: John J. Jacobs, Born Pope County, Farmer, 1st marriage, son of Coleman Jacobs and Mary S. Linson, age 23...married Feb 12 1880 to Etha Indiana Lauderdale, born Pope County, first marriage, daughter of Lewis Lauderdale and Mary (Marg??) Williams, age 22. Marriage performed by Simon S.Barger, J.P., witness Hiram Lauderdale. Married at the residence of Newton Lauderdale. Applicant for license was John J. Jacobs. Hope this is of some help. Strange: My greatgrandmother's name was Etha Inda Williams, married to Benjamin F. Yates. Wonder what the inspiration for Etha Inda (Indiana) was? Linda
