Thanks to Ginger and Judy for the information you sent on the Shedville Cemetary. I will check out the books etc. I am searching for information on my ancestor Caleb Cotton who was in Southern Illinois 1820- to about 1840. He was married to Nancy Meredith in North Carolina. Marriage Bond 6 Nov 1801. He died in Illinois before 1845. One family history states that he and Nancy were killed by Delaware Indians. I would like to find where they might be buried. I have found records of Caleb in Pope and Johnson Counties. Some of these records indicate that he helped in the building of roads. He had children, some born in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Illinois. Names of children I know are sons: James, Noah Shelton (born 1811), Gabriel Lovoen (born 1822), Caleb Carrol. Daughters: Sarah, Malinda, Mahala, Elizabeth, Margaret Louisa, Josephine, Peninah S. (born 1827) Malinda may have married a George Dawson and at one time was living in Equality, Gallatin Co. Illinois. (1860) Noah Shelton married Martha Stout in Illinois & had five children. She died and he married second Lucretia Spurgeon (she may have been married previously to a Hill). Some have attributed a George Washington Cotton as being another son of Caleb & Nancy Cotton. However, I have found information that shows he appears rather to have been a son of Elias Cotton and his wife Rachel. I am interested in learning any information on any of these Cottons. I believe that it is possible that Elias Cotton and Caleb may have been of some relation. Caleb was also associated with a Morris family in Illinois, as I have found records indicating he was an executor for Levi Morris and that he, or his son, Caleb indentured an orphan William Morris in 1840. Any help or information regarding these families would be appreciated Thank you Marla
