Here's info for getting free death certs: (217) 782-4682 This is Ill. State Archives. Ask for the library. Give them the name and date of death. It takes 2-3 weeks. You can only order 2 at a time and they are uncertified copies, but they are the death certs and have all the info. People have been asking if they need to send SASE. The answer is "no" just a phone call with the above info. does it. Sounds too simple I know, but it works. Others have done it. Hi list members, just received two updates from the Cook Co List: 1.) "I called this number which connects directly to the "request desk" for death certificates - saves a few minutes on long distance. 1 (217) 782-3556" 2.) "When I called the phone number I was told they need it in writing. I turned around, put it in writing and was holding 2 certificates within 3 weeks. It's a little slower but I have been learning patience with my quest. The address is: Illinois State Archives The Norton Building Springfield, IL 62756" A little cheaper too. Now you have several options. I'm sorry some of you will get this more than once, just hit delete. Good luck. Take care, take time & share, Judy in IN *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Southeastern Illinois Resource Books [Pope, Massac, Johnson & Hardin] http://www.angelfire.com/il/leefoss Judy Foreman Lee *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
