Dear Marla, I have a Grandmother that was a Cotton. Her name was Sally Cotton and she married Herring Taylor who was born Feb.24,1772 in Leonire Co., NC. They were married about 1796 in TN. I know that Herring was in Wilson Co., and Sumner Co., TN before he settled in Franklin Co., Illinois around 1820. Sall's fathers name was Thomas Cotton.
