Dear Pat: I am the compiler of "Pope County Illinois Herald-Enterprise Newspaper Abstracts. In Volume III, under date of June 1, 1922, there is mention of Robert S. BARGER, as follows: Robert S. BARGER, better known as "Constable Bob," died at his home in Carrier Mills, Thursday of last week. A notice of his death will be found in the "Delwood" correspondence. Deceased, until a few years ago, lived in Pope County. Also: "Delwood": Our community was shocked Wednesday of last week by the sad news that Robert S. BARGER, of Carrier Mills had died suddenly. Mr. BARGER was a resident of this place till about 6 years ago. He was buried Saturday at the Salem Cemetery, near Carrier Mills. I hope this might clear up the question you asked. My books are for sale, there are MANY BARGERs and S. BARGERs in them. Check out my web page: http://www.angelfire.com/il/bbskaggs. Thank you, Bonnie BARTON SKAGGS
