Can anyone give me more information on the DANIEL HICKS who married MARTHA ANN MCCURDY in Pope IL on 9 Feb 1849? This is the only record I have on him. This couple had a daughter Nancy Caroline Hicks on 25 May 1850. My grandmother (who was a granddaughter of this couple) told me: "My grandfather Hicks was a mystery, one of those things never solved. He and grandmother was at her father's visiting and decided to move to their neighborhood & he told her she could stay and he would go back and move their things. He kissed her goodbye and drove away in the wagon expecting to be back with their furniture & he never was heard of again. They never knew if he met with foul play or what.
