Judy I do not know if I have mentioned to you that I am researching the Lee family of Livingston County and McCracken County who also would up in Southern Illinois. My Great Aunt, MATTIE Martha Covington married Dr. William A. Lee of Paducah, who was born in about 1835 in Virginia. They had five children. I firmly believe he is the first cousin of Robert E. Lee from a brother of the General that has not been well researched. I did a bit of research some time ago and believe that this family story may well be true. One of their sons is Robert E. Lee, born in Paducah. MATTIE died in Metropolis, Illinois in the Covington family cemetery with her brother, Dr. Alexander M. Covington, whom I have mentioned to you in the past.
