Does anyone have any information of any kind on Mary Estelle Whiteside born 12/13/1890 in Pope County and married to Clark Drum in Pope County, August 19, 1911? She was my maternal Grandmother and I know nothing about her parents. I do have some information and pictures of some of her siblings. R. DRUMM-WHITESIDE(S) 03.31.05 from: Vol. 2, History & Families, Pope Co, IL, pg 132 "CARR - THE LOG HOUSE" "Perched on top of Possum Ridge in northeast Pope County, with views of forest-covered hills all around, is this log house. Characteristic of the early settlers' homes which once dotted the countryside, many such structures in this and adjacent counties have been demolished, burned, or simply allowed to deteriorate, to make way for modern structures, or simply empty fields or woods." <snip> "The house is said to have been built about the turn of the century by William DRUMM, who owned the site between 1899 and 1912...." <snip> [ submitted by Bill Carr ] ----- 1900 Pope County, IL Federal Census: Grand Pier Precinct, ED 61 35/35 DRUMM, William (head) b. Aug 1865, AL; m. 18 yrs --------- Mary J. (wife) b. Feb 1864, IL; m. 18 yrs; (7 children/ 6 living) --------- Jacob E. (son) b. Oct 1886, IL <--"Jacob Elmer"?? --------- Jay T. (son) b. Dec 1888, IL --------- Myrtle D. (dau) b. Jan 1891, IL --------- Lydia M. (dau) b. Feb 1893, IL --------- William E. (son) b. Sept 1895, IL --------- Harrington (son) b. Mar 1898, IL [ no other DRUMM, DRUM, or similar variation listed this Census ] ~~~ Males, Jacob E., Jay T., William E. and Harrington are prospective parent to your Clark. Phillip's Grand-daughter, Loretta (shown below) does not appear in this Census. .... 1880 Pope County, IL Federal Census Grand Pier Precinct 203/205 DRUM, Phillip, age 48, b. France (marr.) -------- Lana, age 49, b. Baden (wife/marr.) -------- William, age 22, b. IL (----) -------- Jacob, age 20, b. IL (single) -------- Kate, age 19, b. IL (single) -------- Adaline, age 14, b. IL (single) -------- Loretta, age 1, [G-dau], b. IL (----) ~~it appears that Phillip DRUM would be a related ancestor to your Clark DRUM, and apparently arrived in Illinois by 1858 when son, William was born. William has no entry on "married, single, widower" - and no DRUM listed in the Mortality Schedule. Loretta, age 1, may be William's daughter. The two males to carry the DRUM surname here, would be William and Jacob. ~~No success at all in locating Mary Estelle WHITESIDE(S) b. 1890, and married to Clark DRUM(M) in 1911 Pope County. Are you sure they married in Pope County, or perhaps a nearby county? (Mary should be listed in the 1900 Census.) A LIST OF HER SIBLINGS MIGHT HELP A GREAT DEAL. - carol ==== Glenn Campbell wrote: >Does anyone have any information of any kind on Mary Estelle Whiteside born >12/13/1890 in Pope County and married to Clark Drum in Pope County, August >19, 1911?
