Hi Clara.... YES, Mary Magdelena "Lena" MANSEN/MANSON (b. abt.1816 d. before 1880) is my 2nd gr-grandaunt. She married William John WALTER, about 1833-35 in Germany (Prussia), w/7 known children. * Her dates do not match the dates you give below for LENA WALTER..so she may not be the person you are seeking. (Her youngest child b.1836- oldest b. abt 1847; all in Hannover Province, Ger., prior to emigration.) William John WALTER 1815-1854, son of John Henry(1) "Daniel" WALTER b. bef. 1790 and Catherine (possibly VOSLOW). William John WALTER was one of 5 Walter Brothers that emigrated to Pope Co, IL middle 1800s. William John and brother, John"Henry" Daniel WALTER, Jr. died within one month of each other. The latter brother emigrating in 1854, leaving wife Almuth (RENKEN) widowed with three sons, two of which founded the Walter Brothers Store. William John left widow, Lena, with 7 children ranging in ages between 18 & 7. See letter our website, confirming deaths and relationships: http://thefamilywalter.com/letter1.html The MANSEN/MANSON family came from Ostfriesland (East Friesland, north of the Netherlands), Germany, to the United States in the mid-1800s. They located their farm near relatives or friends north of Waltersburg and Rising Sun. The WALTER families, also were from Ostfriesland. "Lena" Mary Magdalena MANSEN, came to Waltersburg as a wife/mother between 1852-54, and she might possibly be a sister to Heio or Heie Wilken MANSEN (1815-1888) who came to Pope County, IL between 1872-and 1880, bringing his wife Anna Christena HANS (1821-1910). Also possible nephew could be: John JaKob MANSEN 1841-1889. Both Heio and son, J. JaKob share the same birth locations (Aurich) as Lena. They are all buried in the Waltersburg Cemetery. Their children married into the families of: JACOBS, HERTTER, LAUDERDALE, WIERVILLE, MITCHELL, APLIN, WIGGERS, PEPPERSACK, ROSE, Von TUNGELN, SISTLER, SCHOETTLE, CASPER, WALTER, HERTTER, and KING. Their grand children married families of: HANNA, GALLAMORE, GAVITT, PORTER, MORSE, S.BARGER, GRISHAM, THOMPSON, TANNER, BOOS, HAMILTON, REXER, MANKIN, VOLLE, HALE, DILLOW, ARNOLD, WILLIAMSON, WEEKS, GILLIAM, MOYERS...to name a few. :o) Carol --sending copy of this to ILPOPE-L for archives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [email protected] wrote: > Carol: > I sent the message below to Susan and she thought it might of been you > that mentioned Mary Magdelena "Lena" Mansen.
