I believe I may have had an Uncle or two involved in this horrific event in Franklin County, IL. I know that my uncles worked in a 'mine', but not sure if this is the one. Was there a mine close to Pope County that was affilliated with Alcoa Aluminum? I wonder if anyone knows of any Pope County, IL citizens lost (or from surrounding counties)??
