SMOCK descendants, The SMOCK family was one of the earlier settlers in Southern IL. Arriving before 1808, they were in the 1810 Census of Randolph Co., IL Terr., they settled in Cave in Rock and remained in the vicinity for over 100 years. The counties involved over this time were Randolph, Gallatin, Pope and Hardin. Perhaps, some descendants still live there. My father in law was Rurie Ambler SMOCK (1893 Near Colo. Spromgs, Colo-1963 Delray Beach, FL), son of Thomas Jerry and May Lillian (Evertson) SMOCK of Hardin Co., IL. They are buried in Peter Creek Cemetery, near Cave in Rock, Hardin Co., IL. I am eager to make contact with one or more SMOCK descendants currently living in Hardin Co., IL. or vicinity. Please contact me directly at <[email protected]> Best regards, Hugh
