Does anyone have a Nancy Elizabeth Abbott in their family? She was born May 2, 1847 in Tennessee (I think). She married Uriah Morgan on Dec. 8, 1864 in Pope County. She died June 11, 1882 and is buried in Paducah, KY. I think her father was William Abbott, son of Sterling H. Abbott but would love to have proof and more information about the Abbott family. Glenda, I have a copy of the court records (Pope Co IL Sec 2 box 42): Elizabeth Morgan, an adult & Elijah Jennings, a minor by Uriah Morgan vs James M. Abbott deceased James M. Abbott had been appointed the guardian of the minor heirs of William Abbott deceased (papers filed with the court 22 Jul 1862). This lawsuit states that they are heirs of William Abbott deceased and Nancy Abbott also deceased. And that Nancy Abbott was the sister of John W. Bennett deceased late of St. Joseph Parish LA. The guardianship passed to James M. Abbott Jr. when James Sr. died 23 Oct 1864. It also names John Abbott, who died 5 Dec 1865, as brother to Elizabeth and half brother to Elijah Jennings. (There is a record of a Nancy Abbott who married a James Jennings 6 Oct 1853) William Abbott is son of Sterling Abbott and younger brother to my James M. Abbott Sr. and Mary Evans.
