Hello, My mother would like to visit the graves of her grandparents and great-grandparents this summer. The names are Aaron [1867-1956] and Rose Ella (Shufflebarger) [1869-1943] WALKER, James [1832-1897] and Indiana (King) [1837-1880] SHUFFLEBARGER, Daniel J [?-?]and Elizabeth (Whiteside) [1846-?] WALKER. They are possibly buried in New Home or New Hope Cemetery. Can anyone help us figure out where to go? Thanks. Terry Dowden
Terry, I found in the New Hope Church Cemetery: Aaron and Rosella Walker The cemetery is located at Twp 11, South Range 7 East Section 19. When you get to Golconda, go to the courthouse and get a range map. They are very helpful at the courthouse. Daniel J Walker b. Nov. 10, 1805 d. Aug. 25, 1872 buried in New Liberty Church Cemetery Twp 12 South Range 6 East Section 19. Did not find an Elizabeth Walker. I will keep looking for the Shufflebargers; they are listed as Shufflebarger, S. Barger, etc...every imaginable spelling. My parents and I were in Pope County in October 2004, and found that it was actually pretty easy to find the cemeteries that we wanted to visit...plenty of info at the courthouse and at the library and the people were extra helpful. Have a good one.
