Some time ago, I can recall a query about the state aid roads. I came across this in my files today. Hope it will be of benefit to the list. Faye PETITION The following signers, being either land-owners within the near vicinity of State-aid Route #7, or being interested in the improvement of the road through having to travel the same; do hereby petition and request the Pope County Commissioners to include the State-aid Route #7 as an improvement under W. P. A. in accordance with letter now filed with W.P.A., office, in Golconda. This public road is also a mail-route, and the following signers do hereby agree that any necessary land needed for roadway purposes for improving the road is donated, and do also agree that either labor, money, team time, and materials for bridges are donated to Pope County as listed, as an aid to the Commissioners on the Sponsors part of the cost of the improvement. The length of state-aid # 7 to be improved being a distance of about two and a half miles from Rock, west to the new lake near Bennett Corner. Date: Aug. 8, 1941 Signers: Jas. F.
