A request to organize them into a new church was granted in December 1824. Big Bay Creek Church united with the Muddy River Association in September 1825, her messengers being Elders William Rondeau and Thomas Lee, and Bro. Isham Clay, who reported 22 members. The church continued to represent in the Muddy River Association until 1837 (the time of the trouble over the modern mission system). Lusk Creek Church (Pope County) was one of the churches which organized the Muddy River Association, in October 1820, her messenger being Charles Johnson, who reported 11 members in fellowship. In 1821 the church reported 9 members. The records of Grand Pier church show that William Rondeau joined by letter from the Regular Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since he was at Big Bay Creek Church in Sep 1825, it is obvious that he must have gone down to New Orleans between that date and 1830. He was dismissed from Big Creek church by letter in February 1825, in connection with a petition from Big Bay Church for Elder Rondeau to serve them as pastor which was granted. Elder William Rondeau joined Big Creek church prior to January 1823, but the date is not yet known (the church was organized in 1806). It is now known that he was ordained at Big Creek church in July 1824 by Elders Wilson Henderson and Stephen Stilley. Elder Abel Teague was also invited to take part in the ordination but apparently was not able to attend (I would like to know where he came from). In my reading I have come across the remark that Lusk Ferry was the name of Golconda in the early days.
