Ida, there must have been a Bolden Church in Pope County. Perhaps if you could find that, you would have the cemetery location, too. See this: Smith, Lawrence W. <http://www.shawneelink.net/%7Efayebow/obit/141.html> The funeral will be held at *Bolden* church in *Pope* *county*, Saturday at 2 pm The Rev. *...* WE Dutton officiating and burial will be at *Bolden* *cemetery*. *...* http://www.shawneelink.net/~fayebow/obit/141.html (Faye Bowman is one of our List members.) good luck and hope others will respond. --carol === idcheek@juno.com wrote: >Can someone tell me where Bolden Cemetery is located? LEVERETT, born Jun 19, 1903; died Jan 24, 1918, after about one week illinois, aged 14 years, 7 months and 5 days old. Denever was not strong, so that when his sickness came he was an easy victim. His body was carred to Eddyville, his former home, and there his funeral was preached in the Baptist Church. He was laid to rest in the family cemetery nearby. Hi Pat, sorry to butt in on your mail to someone else but you said you had several books on Pope Co.. That caught my eye as I am looking for LEVERETT folks and have ran into a wall. I can't find Martin and Elizabeth Leverett and sons after 1861. I know Martin died in 1865 and wife Elizabeth died in 1871 somewhere around Pope Co.. Three of their daughters married Reynolds boys there in Pope co. between 1854 and 1867 but thats all I found. I wonder if you have ran across any LEVERETT's in any of your searchs? If you don't have time to look, thanks anyway and I'm sorry to have bothered you. Thanks for sending that link. No success so far, but will keep trying. Linda
I checked my LEE & FOSS Pope County, IL Marriage Books, A-E, 1813-1877, Vol. 1 for the following surname variations: FLEETWOOD, FREEDWOOD, PHLEETWOOD, etc. and could not locate any data for you. Also checked the Pope County History and Families, Index (of surnames) and nothing showed there either. You can find a plethora of specific Pope County and Illinois *links* at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilpope/ This link is worthy of filing in Favorites or Bookmarks for all Pope County genealogy researchers. It also has a Pope County marriage list, alphabetically listed by groom. You can also see their links for surrounding counties, plus you might want to check out Massac County at Rootsweb. Don't give up and good luck to you on your happy trails. -- carol --- Ben and Linda Moore wrote: >Are any early marriage records available for Pope Co., IL? It was a very active organization in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Only Union veterans were permitted to join the GAR. As the members aged and then died, the organization eventually disappea red. However, it was replaced by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, with membership restricted to descendants of Union Civil War veterans. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War inherited most of the records of the national GAR organization, as well as many of the records of local chapters (called "encampments"). _Continue reading "Civil War Soldiers' Graves Online Database" »_ (http://eogn.typepad.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2005/08/civil_war_soldi.html#more) Posted by Dick Eastman on August 09, 2005 | Judy Foreman Lee _UdyDee43@aol.com_ (mailto:UdyDee43@aol.com) My families: Benard, Brown, Crawford, Davidson, Doctorman, Echols, Foreman, Glass, Hanna, Holmes, Hurford, Jackson, Jennings, Lewis, Maddox, Reams, Rumsey, Scott, Shadowen, Sipe, Slankard, Soward, Trovillion, Tomlinson/Linson, Vinyard, Whitley, Williams, etc.
