    1. [ILPOPE-L] Cemetery locations
    2. Can anyone tell me where the Shedville Cemetery is located? I know Sec. 23, T13S, R5E and can find that location on a plat map, but the plat map doesn't have roads, highways, towns, etc. Also, if Thomas King Sr's mother was "buried at the War Bluff"--where would that be? Thanks Carolynn Waldon (Waldonhaus@aol.com) 520 E. Main St, Ripon, CA 95366

IL. in the 1870 federal census. The family living at 61/61, Union Precinct, Pope Co.,IL. in the 1970 census, was my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather. (My Grandfather William, the oldest child , had already moved out of this home). My question is twofold, can you tell me where this farm was located, and, do you have any information about these families that could help me learn more about them? I cannot find any record of the two youngest children, George and John Gulley and they seem to be to old to be Nancys natural children! Can you help? -Wayne

    1. [ILPOPE-L] Pope County Query: CALVERT-MCCURDY-PITTULLO-SCOTT
    2. Is anyone working on the famly of John Calvert Sr (b. abt 1765) and his wife Mary McCurdy who left Elbert Co, GA, and went to Bedford Co, TN, then Giles Co, TN, before arriving in Pope Co, IL, before 1819? They were in T13S, R6E. John Sr. died in Pope Co. in 1824. I think that my Wm. McCurdy and his sisters Sarah "Sally" (md. James Pittullo in 1821) and Mary (md. Isaac B. Scott in 1825) were related to Mrs. Calvert (maybe nephew and nieces?) and came to Pope Co. with the Calverts. Carolynn Waldon - 520 E. Main St. - Ripon, CA 95366

    1. [ILPOPE-L] Hicks - McCurdy 1849
    2. Can anyone give me more information on the DANIEL HICKS who married MARTHA ANN MCCURDY in Pope IL on 9 Feb 1849? This is the only record I have on him. This couple had a daughter Nancy Caroline Hicks on 25 May 1850. My grandmother (who was a granddaughter of this couple) told me: "My grandfather Hicks was a mystery, one of those things never solved. He and grandmother was at her father's visiting and decided to move to their neighborhood & he told her she could stay and he would go back and move their things. He kissed her goodbye and drove away in the wagon expecting to be back with their furniture & he never was heard of again. They never knew if he met with foul play or what. He had no known relatives that they knew of." Carolynn Waldon Ripon, CA
