    3. If it is Andrew U Kidd that is on the 1818 tax list in Pope Co, IL, then that is not the one I was hoping to find. BUT if you wouldn't mind passing on the info about him, it may help in my finding the parents of my ggGrandfather, James J Kidd, b. in 1802 in KY. I was tracing the track of an Andrew KIDD that was b. in VA, went to SC, was found on the 1805 tax list in Livingston Co, KY, and then I thought had gone to Pope Co, IL. Do you know where Andrew U Kidd was born? Do you know anything else about his father Jacob KIDD? Do you know if Jacob had other sons? Thanks for your response. I look forward to hearing from you. 3. LuAnn, The queries should show as updated. Try accessing it again and if you're still seeing December hit reload. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll go back and reupload the file again. I'll try to check those links on the family page, I'm a little under the weather tonight and it may take a day or two. 1. [ILPOPE-L] Maiden name LENIEN
    2. In early 1900's a lady with maiden name LENIEN, who was born in Bellville IL, inherited some land in Pope County. A large amount according to her daughter. She and her first husband James William Walker lived in Henderson Kentucky and had a daughter and two sons, then James came down with Brights disease and died in a clinic in Michigan. However she had left him and remarried, and when she inherited the land she was supposed to have come to Pope County and lived there with her new husband on this land. I am working on the history of the Walker family and would like any information that may be available as to her first name, family members or anything at all. Her daughter did not remember her first name for she spent most of your young life with others. I do know that Lenien had a brother that was a Col. in the Army Engineers stationed in GA at that time.Don't have much to go on but hope this will ring a bell with someone in the area, that may be willing to help me. Thanks Bob W

    2. Dear Pat: I am the compiler of "Pope County Illinois Herald-Enterprise Newspaper Abstracts. In Volume III, under date of June 1, 1922, there is mention of Robert S. BARGER, as follows: Robert S. BARGER, better known as "Constable Bob," died at his home in Carrier Mills, Thursday of last week. A notice of his death will be found in the "Delwood" correspondence. Deceased, until a few years ago, lived in Pope County. Also: "Delwood": Our community was shocked Wednesday of last week by the sad news that Robert S. BARGER, of Carrier Mills had died suddenly. Mr. BARGER was a resident of this place till about 6 years ago. He was buried Saturday at the Salem Cemetery, near Carrier Mills. I hope this might clear up the question you asked. My books are for sale, there are MANY BARGERs and S. BARGERs in them. Check out my web page: http://www.angelfire.com/il/bbskaggs. Thank you, Bonnie BARTON SKAGGS

Main St, Ripon, CA 95366 War Bluff is an area in Pope County, a few miles East of Eddyville. You turn off the blacktop road onto a gravel road that goes to the Raum area. You turn off the gravel road onto a lane that is on private property. I was at a cemetery there a few years ago (1970's) but it is a Shufflebarger family cemetery. What was Thomas King's mothers name? Who did she marry? Linda Killingsworth (lindak@accessus.net)

It is located in a field behind a house formerly owned by Mr. Billington. I'm not sure who lives there now. It is a fairly large cemetery. War Bluff is I believe in northern Pope County. Rick Allen
