    1. [ILPOPE-L] Pope County Roll Call
    2. Judy Foreman Lee
    3. I'm answering the roll call..... Crawford, Davidson, Doctorman, Echols, Foreman, Glass, Hanna/Hannah, Hurford, Jackson, Jennings, Lewis, Linson, Maddox, Reams, Rumsey, Scott, Shadowins/Chaudoin, Sipe, Slankard, Soward, Tomlinson, Trovillion, Vinyard, Whitley, Williams. Most of my families have been in Pope County [every part of it] since the early 1800s. If I'm not related by blood, my family married into just about every other family in the county. 1. [ILPOPE-L] LENIEN
    2. Walk2er
    3. Searching for a lady named LENIEN, that returned to Pope Co. after the death of her husband James William Walker, who died in a Sanitarium in Battle Creek MI in 1897. She inherited some land in Pope Co, and returned there, remarried but name unknown , may have had additional Children. While married and living in Henderson KY. with her husband before he became ill, she had Sons William and Caswell Walker and daughter Madeline. Lenien I believe is the correct spelling and it's her last name, first unknown. Really would like some additional info. on this lady, for the Walker Family History. Any help will be appreciated. I understand she was originally from Pope County prior to her marriage in abt. 1885.

    3. This is homepage which lists mine and my husband's direct lines. http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/e/l/Sharon-F-Felker/ My first post from yesterday pretty well listed all my REYNOLDS and DAVIDSON information, but I continue to work on my Pope co lines. My next day off, I'm heading back to Massac Co to go over probate records. Pope Co records have been transcribed, and I haven't found anything on this family in it. My husband and I have been married almost 17 years, two kids, Kayla 12, Travis 10, four horses, two dogs and we are down to just one cat. We live in the country - most of our ancestors have lived in this same area for 150 years. We camp with our horses up near Pope Co and ride along the river to river trail into Pope Co. When you say you have Reynolds on your side, do you mean more than Jackson? If you don't mind, pass along what you have on your line and I'll keep it as I research in the area. For a long time I thought that Poco was just Pope Co, but there really is a settlement named Poco. It's a shame my grandmother doesn't know about her grandmother's family. That seems odd, not to know your own great grandparents, but I'm sure my sister doesn't know who hers are. BTW, my husband was born at Ft. Hood. 3. Brenda, The children of Daniel W. Walker and Elizabeth Whiteside were Aaron (b. 1867), Elizabeth (b. 1868/69), and Mary Ophelia (Molly) (b. 7/29/1870). There may also have been a son, Herman (b. 1871/72). Molly was my grandmother, and my dad knew the first three so I am pretty sure of them. Unfortunately, the names "Scott" or "Wade" don't appear in our family record. Sorry I can't be of more help. I know she didn't live with her biological parents. Does the name Scott or Wade ring a bell? Brenda

    3. I've stumped as to where to look next and I am looking for connections/suggestions. My ggrandmother Printha JOHNSON (JOHNSTON) died in childbirth in Pope Co, IL in 1924 her date of birth per her death cert. was July 26, 1900. I received a copy of her 1923 marriage info. from IRAD. On it she listed her parents as "Wash. JOHNSON" and "Nancy OWENS" and her place of birth as Pope Co. She was listed as 23 yrs old, white and a resident of New Liberty, IL. We were told Printha's mother died in childbirth and she was raised by her grandfather Samuel Thomas OWENS and his third wife. She does appear in his household in 1910 & 1920. Question: I have been unable to find anything on Wash Johnson or Nancy Owens. Any suggestions/connections?

    3. Looking for information on the paretns of Alexander Brown b. abt 1826 and Robert Brown b. abt 1829 possible in Pope Co. IL. Some suspect a Thomas Brown but haven't been able to prove anything yet. Both Alexander and Robert later moved and were married in Fulton Co. IL. Alexander died in MO in 1877 and Robert died in TX in 1907. There was also another brother Samuel Brown b. in 1828 possible in IL or OH. It's possible these Browns were cousin instead of brothers? Any information would be greatly appriciated. I have more information on their descendents if anyone is interested and also I have a book called "Fulton Co. IL Heritage" which I will do lookups for anyone interested. Jerry Brown

    3. Brenda A friend of mine has my 1850 Pope census right now, and I don't have the part in my files yet (shame on me) but they both were listed with families with different surnames. I think Martha is listed with a 60? year old Davidson woman and some others, was this her grandmother? Also in the household were people of a different surname. About the same thing for the Edward Reynolds I found. He was listed with others of a different surname. I don't know if the adult female was his mother and maybe she remarried? We typically want to find a person in the 1850 census listed with parents and sibblings, and maybe grandparents next door. These two people are a little harder to short out. The age for your Jackson matches exactly with my Andrew J. I haven't found anyone researching this line. I'm in Massac Co. Where are you? Just last week I spoke with a lady who told me to contact Hattie DAVIDSON of Pope Co. I think I'll write her son first. My grandmother was named after Martha. She is still living at age 93, but never knew anything about family. Your Jackson sure did die young, I guess though he had time for children. I bet you can't find a death cert on him either. That's how I determined Sarah's parents. Of course she was last born; not until 1881, your Jackson was already deceased. Time for church. Sharon >Sharon, The Jackson Reynolds I am looking for was born about 1857. He >married Elmirah Bryan 12-24-1876. And it list him as 19. Jackson died >9-91879. 3. Hi Brenda I'll go in and check my sources for Andrew J. Reynolds born about 1857 is a son of Edward Ned Reynolds and Martha Davidson. Have you had any luck determining his death date? In the 1850 Pope Census the only Edward Reynolds is living with a non-traditional. Martha is also in a non-traditional family so I can't determine their parents. Sarah Henerita who married Edward Davis named her children: Hazel, Paul, Mabel, Martha (after her mother) Susan (after Edward Davis' mother) Carl E., Robert. I haven't found any other Edward Reynolds in Pope or Massac either. Of course I've run into a lot of flip-flopping between Livingston co KY and Pope Co. Let me know what you think. I'm Sharon in Massac Co IL >Shoron, I am looking for the parents of Jackson Reynolds, I know for a >fact his father's name is Edward. Jackson married Elmirah Bryant in Dec >of 1876. Now, this is whare, I run into a bit of a bind. I am not able >to find a Jackson Reynolds on any census. The closest thing I have to go >by is maybe that jackson first name might be Andrew. And the Edward >Reynolds you listed is the only Edward Reynolds I could find in Pope Co, >at that time. That is why I asked you who Andrew married. Any >suggestions? Brenda >
