    3. I attended the Pope Co Gen Society for the first time last Thurs. night. Thanks to this communication service and others on the web Wisconsin folks can certainly participate in Pope County genealogy. I answered a query Bob Bain of CA made to Pope County IL Gen Web and discovered a "cousin" that filled in a whole branch of my Morris tree. Our new society will have many members throughout the USA. as well as local Pope Countians. It is certainly good to hear from both Cheryl and Cindy. Hoping to hear encouragement from many more of you and your names and E-mails will be shared at the August 13th meeting!

    3. I myself have benefited from Genealogical Societies. Some I have belonged to. MY best results were found because a very distant cousin has belonged to a Genealogical Society for many years, in hopes she would some day make contact with descendants of 2 Uncles that left TN. Well to shorten the story. I joined the society and we connected, which saved me what could have been many pain staking if not expensive years of looking. This particular person I was researching Silas Jackson settled in Pope CO, he was born in Jackson CO, TN. Well those of you who may have researched Jackson's know how hard it can be to locate relatives in the early 1800's. I personally hope to see a Pope CO Society started. I do not know if I can be of much help from Wisconsin, but would like to if you need any help. Who knows it may prove that all of us researching in Pope CO are really related. Families I am researching; Jackson, Hathaway, William's, Clubb, Shufflebarger, Lauderdale, Stapleton

    2. I am looking for any information anyone might have on an Alice Broadway b. about 1862, not sure whether in Pope county or not. Do know she lived and married a John Jaco in Pope county. He died early 1886 while breaking a horse. They had one child, Cressie, b. 4/17/86. Alice later married a George Stapleton in Pope county. She at sometime in the early 1920's moved to McClure, Il, Alexander county. It is thought she married two more times there, once to a Goodman then to a Reams. Anyone having information, please contact me at STARDNCER@aol.com Thanks Deane Jaco-Green
