Thanks, I'll check Saline Co. and Metropolis. I haven't checked these two yet, so this might be a possibility! I have posted a few queries but I didn't think about posting one on the Genforum. I will though, and keep my fingers crossed. I'm glad that you found your Pheobe's line-it's always nice to hear when someone finds their family, especially after searching for so long! Thanks again for the tip. Vikki

Vikki, I know there is nothing like finding the info yourself. Have you checked all the surrounding counties. I know that some of the people from lower IL ended up in Saline CO. Some even went to Metropolis. My next thought is have you submitted queries at the different genealogical web sites. i.e. U S Gen web, Roots Web and Genforum. Sometimes these do pay off. I submitted a query to the Genforum (You have to keep checking this one out) months ago and finally someone contacted me about 2 months after I posted it. Lo and behold they had my Pheobe's family, which I have been trying to find for about 10 years now. Hi Y'all I've exhausted every lead I can think of and I'm desperate now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me to try. I've checked State and County records, military, and such. My g-g-grandfather was Henry Hogan b.abt.1834 IL. and d.1928 in Hickstown, IL. He was buried in New Hope Cemetery, Hardin County, IL. He served in the civil war in Co. C 48th IL. Regiment and drew a pension of $10.00 a month. Henry supposedly had 4 wives and it's anyone's guess as to how many children actually belonged to him! His wives were Jane Harper m. 5-28-1866 in Pope County, IL. Jane Goble, Melvina Joiner and Amanda Osmond. He's shown up in the Pope County census, but only with his last wife Amanda. With all of the Henry's, William's and John's it's hard to track him. My great grandmother was Carrie Elizabeth (Hogan) Goins and he was listed as her father. There isn't a birth record for Carrie or a marriage record on his last three wives. I just want to know which one was my g-g-grandmother!!!! Please respond if you have any ideas. Thanks, Vicki
Hi everyone, I am looking for a marriage record for John Jefferson GAGE and Tabitha Ann METCALF in 1874 in Pope County, IL. John was born in October of 1849 in TN, and Tabitha was born in November of 1856 in IL. I am also looking for information about Tabitha's birth and her parents and family. I know that her parents were born in Kentucky. If anyone can find tidbits of information about this family in Pope County, I would greatly appreciate it. Here are the names of all of their children, born in Bay City, Pope County, IL. : Ada Gage b. August 1877 Hariett Gage, b. July 1883 Susan L. Gage, b. August 1885 John Gage, b. March 1889 Charles Gage, b. February 1891 Cassie Gage, b. February 1893 Lester Gage, b. March 1896 This family shows up in Scott County, MO in the 1900 census, so it would appear that they may have lived in Bay City or Pope County from 1874 to at least 1896. I am hoping that because of the length of their stay, maybe there is hope in finding information about them. John and Tabitha are my great great grandparents. Thanks! I am certainly willing to share the information I have if anyone is interested.
My apologies to the list. I accidentally gave the date range for the entire CD and not just for the Pope County records. Pope County marriage records on CD #228 span the years from 1816 to 1850. Again, my apologies for any confusion and thanks, Barney, for the correction. Also, please e-mail me directly with your requests, rather than to the list. jstevens@cyber.sausd.k12.ca.us Judy (living life in the past lane) Santa Ana, CA You are cordially invited to visit my genealogy pages at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/5842 Black, Brumble, Cowsert, McDaniel, Nation, Stone

Hi, Could you check the marriage CD for Matthew Jenkins and Sylpha (Sylvia) Murphy? Thank you Suzanne Villa Park, Ill
Hello Listers: I have the Broderbund Marriage Index CD #228. It contains over 1700 names of persons apply for a marriage license in Pope County between the years 1790 and 1850. It is only an "index" and should not be considered a complete record. It contains the names of the bride and groom, the date the license was applied for, and the county. I would be happy to do look-ups on this CD. BUT .... to keep from breaking copyright laws, I can only search for full names (FIRST AND LAST) . . . no broad surname searches, please. Judy Santa Ana, CA You are cordially invited to visit my genealogy pages at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/5842 Black, Brumble, Cowsert, McDaniel, Nation, Stone
Dear Judy, i would be sooooooo thankful if you could look up my G-G-grandparents marraige record. His name was " James Murphy", and her name was " Darthula caroline Ellis" ( her name was also recorded as " Narthala"). I'm trying to locate anything at all about their parents, but I realize that you said the records you have don't contain that info. Also, I'm trying to locate information on their daughter, Parthenia Murphy. She was married to a man with the last name of " Pettiford", before she married my G-grandpa in 1900. My Grandpa had told us that he had several siblings older then himself, so I was wondering if she had any children by Mr. Pettiford. If you happen to see a marraige record for Parthenia Murphy, and a Mr. Pettiford, I would appreciate it also. Again, --- thanks so much for offering your time. If anyone needs a record search for Pasco county, Florida, that's where I am, so I'll be happy to do what I can. Thanks again, NovaB@aol.com

My grandmother never seemed to know much about them. He died and she remarried George Schuchardt. They had a daughter, Daisy (my grandmother). She died (when Granny was four)and he remarried Epsy Jennings. They had a daughter too. These half sisters married the Waters brothers. The sister, Rettie Waters married Wesley Walters. My mother was related to both the Walters and the Schuchardts. Interesting....I'm probably going to drive everyone nuts doing this now. I can't wait to sit down at the computer to see what else is coming in.I think I'm my own cousin..ha. Thanks a lot. If you run across anything about the Grisham son, let me know. Now, I have a name to start with.... Sharon
