I have been trying to find some information on a John Shufflebarger who married Elizabeth Lauderdale. I have no dates for John, Elizabeth was born November 01, 1828 in Pope CO, and died in Randolph CO, IL on March 18, 1884. I do not recall right now where I got the information on Elizabeth's death. Elizabeth is distant relative, but I would still like to find out what happened to her. I am also connected with the Hathaway's and am wondering if you have done much research on this line? I am descended from Hannah Mahala Hathaway, and I have quite a bit of info on the Hathaway line. I would love to swap info. Cindy L Skiles Frie Mark Edward Steinke wrote: > What John W. My mother was a Waters. I also have a King connection. Just wondering.
In reply to Sharon Brown's question regarding one of my Pope County ancestors, William Waters King: I formerly thought that Wm.'s middle name was probably from a close family member, but having recently traced William back to Brunswick County, Virginia, where he was born abt 1764, and then being able to connect him to other preceding generations, I have not yet found a Waters family connection. In the Brunswick County area at that time, however, there was a preacher named William Waters, so it is possible that my ancestor was named after a revered religious leader. Carolynn Waldon

Bargers, but nothing on the Burtons except the name. Also, Sarah's brother, I. Martin, married Martha Randolph, daughter of Nathaniel Randolph. He was Catherine Robbs's brother. First cousins married the Kings. I have a lot on the Randolphs also. Do you need any information that I may have. Let me know... Sharon
What John W. King are you researching? I have some information on a John W. King, born circa 1817 in VA who married Elizabeth Shufflebarger, daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Burton Shufflebarger. I have some info, although unproven, that claims John W. to be the son of John and Margaret Anderson King, orginially from Montgomery Co., VA. Other Kings I believe to be siblings of John W. are Drucilla (mar. Joseph Butler), Anderson (mar. Happy Vaughn and Elizabeth Ann Gallimore), Cynthia (mar. Archer Hathaway), and Alexander Nelson (mar. Permelia Shufflebarger). I have quite a bit of info on the Anderson family of Montgomery/Pulaski Co., VA, many of whom (including Margaret Anderson King) migrated to Pope Co., IL. If this is the John W. King you are researching, let me know. I can send you more detailed info privately, or post it to this discussion group. I admit that quite a lot of the info I have on the Pope Co. Andersons is based on circumstantial evidence. While I believe my logic in evaluating this evidence to be sound, I would like to find more positive proof of my conclusions. Ruth Hatcher, William's greatgranddaughter just emailed me and asked how to join the line, so hope she will do that. Sharon
