I have "Mary" Melissa BRUSH marr. to James McClelland SISTLER (my family) on: August 16, 1889 at Rock, Pope Co, IL (Bk A-1, pg 136) (witness: George SISSLER (s/b: SISTLER) / Dr. POE). Eight children. James died November 28, 1932. Mary is on my database to have married: James "Will" (not Wesley) SHUFFLEBARGER when she was about 60 years old, or after her her 1st husband died in 1932. Might try the VFW for records also. They put out the flags for veterans.
In May, 2001, CRobinson (Carol) posted a request for information on James W. Shufflebarger who married Mary Melissa Brush. JAMES WESLEY SHUFFLEBARGER, born 1864 and died 1946 is buried alone at New Home cemetery. In my cemetery records I have a note that he was married Sept. 10, 1936. However............ He married in 1887 to ANNIE M. GEE, who died in 1895. She was first married to John H. Morse, but she is buried alone at Boulden Cemetery Is it possible he remarried to Mary Melissa Brush? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Linda K.
Regarding a plot map of the IOOF cemetery in Golconda. I believe former funeral home director, Fred Rottman, has that. He probably could be reached at Golconda, IL 62938.

He was already away at war by the time this census was taken. He mustered out a few years later and returned home after he mustered out in Sept 1862 with a disability. The IL site says that he joined Company A of the 56 IL INF in Feb of 1862, but somewhere in a history of this unit, I read that several of the men had formed this unit much earlier, although it may not have been in any official capacity - I really don't remember, and at the moment I can't find the information. But the important part is that Minerva wasn't a widow yet in 1860. I don't know how long he lived after his discharge, or that he died necessarily near home, but I was hoping to find his grave. The census record you located is for the right family. Hi, Carol. Thanks. Yes, I would like to confirm what I have as the children of Wm. Johnson and Nancy Narcissus Gullett Randolph. In addition to Cladius, I have Alice R. b. 1872, Julius Martin b. 1875, Portia, Alphias b. 1879, Fred b. 1879, Bruno Earnest" Benno", Florence R., Tennessee, Nathaniel Samuel, Raymond Rudolph, Mona Maria, and unknown. Do you have dates, spouses and children for any of them? Were Alphias (male?) and Fred twins?
