    1. [ILPOPE-L] Elsberry Alexander AUSTIN
    2. CarolSue Robinson
    3. Frank...I am wondering if you have access to the Pope County Historical Society, "History and Families 1816-1986, Volume 1"? It contains short biographies of many families rooted in Pope County....and there are at least 6 contributors for the AUSTIN family. I find it interesting that "Elsberry Alexander AUSTIN", son of Harris and Kissiah PARMLEY, b. 1840 Pope Co, IL. Elsberry marr. Charity E. REAMS. (Another Charity - lovely name.) Elsberry served under Captain Joseph W. KING (of Pope Co) during the Civil War, fought at Vicksburg, and was wounded through his right knee. He and Charity had 7 children, one named William Harrison (AUSTIN) who marr Eve BAKER. Elsberry's father, Harris and Harris' brother were to have served in the Black Hawk Campaign of 1832. They served as privates under Captain James N. Clark's Company, Third Regiment, first Brigade, Illinois Volunteers. Just for your info...don't know if it is of help or not, but maybe it is to someone.
