Clara, "Shade" is the uncle of my great aunt Winnie. So yes, I have this tree back to Samuel. Is William Harrison who married Kissiah (Kessiah) Parmley the brother of Joshua B. and Kissiah the sister of Joshua's wife Polly Ann Parmley? My great grandmother's sister married the son of William Harrison and Kissiah. This is why I just found it easier to do the Austin tree too. Susan
Sharon and Bob, I, too am a Pope Co. King descendant. Sharon and I have corresponded a lot and Bob, your name is familiar, but I'm not sure if we have exchanged info or not. I descend from John King/Margret Anderson King, their son, John Wilson King/Elizabeth Ann S. Barger, their son Isaac Martin "Mart" King/Martha Ann Randolph, their daughter Eulalia King/Aquilla Dollins Randolph, their daughter Anna Mae Randolph/Charles Maurice Evitts. I also have Butlers in my tree but haven't yet connected them to Drucilla King/Joseph Butler. My oldest known Butler is George b. 1777 Tn. m. Abigale ?, their son James Butler/Matilda E. Bass, their son, Finis E. Butler/Elizabeth "Betsey" Nunn, Jonah Walter Butler/Mandacy Duffee, their daughter, Bettie Ellen Butler/Clayborn Walter Norman. I wish I could find more children of George and maybe would find the connection to Drucilla. Carol, My Eve Baker b. ca 1879 m. ca 1905?? to William Harrison Austin b. 1878 son of Elsberry Alexander Austin and Charity Reams. I know what you mean about the confusion. I have an Eva Baker married to Harlow Austin. This Eva was the daughter of Henry Baker and Mary Jennings. Austins are so intermarried with my families that it becomes easier just to trace them too. Susan, I noticed that you were researching George W. Whiteside and Sarah Holloway. In the 1860 census, Elizabeth Reems/Reams was listed with them. Does she have connections to this family? And if so, how? Ellen Riley [email protected] [email protected] wrote: > > Carol, > I think we are shaken some of the same trees. Kathy...any idea what Census they would be in? As early as 1860 maybe, or as late as 1900? Would there be a husband/father's name? Carol kathy wrote: > Hi Carol and thanks so much. Susan, I found some notes on Eva BAKER, I think marr. to William Harrison AUSTIN. It may not be of much value, but, will include it here. > "The 1900 Pope Co, IL Census shows "EVA BAKER" living in Eddyville Precinct, with > HENRY BAKER, b. Have you tried the Illinois Marriage Records Website? I am not sure what years they cover, but apparently they married after 1909. There is also a "W. H. AUSTIN" who's second marriage was to Lora LOUIS-JOHNSON (her second marr. also)...I dont think this is your subject William Harrison AUSTIN, but include that note here to alleviate confusion, I hope: > Marriage records show another W.H.AUSTIN age 27 in 1899 / b. 1872, > son of Sam AUSTIN and Sidney WATERS, married 2nd time to Lora > (LOUIS) JOHNSON, age 23, dau of James LOUIS and Mary GIBSON. > Lora's second marriage also. Sharon, Carol, Yes I am on line. Still here in Everett, WA. We leave for a 9,000 mile trip on 9/15. Carol, I am glad you recall that we have unfinished business. But I have been patiently waiting, well... Actually I have been off on a couple of other lines. But I am still very interested in nailing down Holloways. I hope, I am not intruding on the Holloway discussion, but I have several Holloway from Va. that md. into the Hudgens which came to Williamson Co., IL. Linda Holmes White
Carol, Which Holloway are you working on? Mine, Martha(Patsy) Halloway/Holloway, dau of Obediah Holloway and Elizabeth ? Martha (born in Rockingham Co. NC 1790) married Wm. Bucy, 1808 in NC. Both Wm. and Martha died in Calloway Co. KY. They had 8 or 9 children to my knowledge. Joan Southwick

hello Joan... My HOLLOWAY(s) connect through Ancestor, John "Minter" HOLLOWAY b. 1782 NC and wife, Margery PATE b. 1782 VA. Actually we are not sure about Minter being born in NC, since the state lines were being redrawn at the time of his birth, so he could have been born in TN, but somewhere around the Cumberland Gap. Minter and Margery were last recorded on the 1860 Pope Co, IL Census, residing with the Sistler family (aka:Sitzler), they were already quite elderly for that generation. We do not know if they died in Pope County, or if they moved with their sons to other states. Included with their descendants, we also have connection with Burton Williamson HOLLOWAY, and Bremillion HOLLOWAY (VA/TN). Burton migrated about the same time with his wife and children, as Minter, Margery and the SISTLER/ SITZLER families. Two of Minter and Margery's children married into SISTLER before they migrated. I believe that Minter Holloway is the son of William "Billey" HOLLOWAY b. 1754 VA and Frances MEADOR b. 1750 VA. I have about 22 William HOLLOWAY(s) between 1729-1890, so we really have to watch the locations and birth dates to avoid hysteria-confusion. I have one Obediah HOLLOWAY, son of William HOLLOWAY b. 1734 VA and Martha BALLARD b. 1735 VA (confirmed DAR records, 1998). I show they had 7 children, but all are not proven. I have no further info on Obediah, so if this is the right person, then I would appreciate you sharing what you have, so I can get on the research trail with you. I don't show anything under the spelling of BUCY...could there be a different spelling variation? Thanks for coming forward with this...there is always hope as long as we all keep digging and are willing to share.
