    2. Carol, I don't have a birthdate but his will (#272, Book L) was filed in 1828 in Caswell Co. NC.---At one time I had a book of Caswell Co. Records from the Shawnee Collection after it was moved to Mt. Vernon Illinois and Obediah was mentioned quite often--I remember I copied nearly half the book. This is where I got the names of his children and the information on at least 2 other families in my line. Joan

    3. Please see my post earlier this evening re: 1855 Census. The State censuses between 1845-1865 do not include a list of inviduals in the household, only the head of household William Reams appear in 1845, 1855, 1865 Censuses. Individual years of birth and genders also appear. Carol .................... "D. Patterson" wrote: > Clara, > I'm looking for Polly Parmley and William Reams in the 1850 census. 2. Coral, Bucy is also spelled as Bussey/Busey and a variety of other ways in mid to late 1600's in Maryland. As for Obediah and Elizabeth Hollaway's children, I have the following names: Polly, (married a Humphry) Sally (married a Chilton), Susanna, Jinsey(married a Ware) , John, Martha/Patsy (married Wm. Bucy) James and Joannah. Polly was dead prior to 1823 as her brother, John, was appointed guardan for her dau. Susannah. Those mentioned as married did so in Caswell Co. NC. A son in the next 20 generations was called Obediah I do beleive. Several years ago when I was working on the the Halloways in Caswell Co. I came across a 'hint' that they were from Va. cannot prove it as I did persue it. This was pre-Computer days, now you know how long I have been doing genealogy. Joan

    2. Ellen, I did some digging and found the following: Elizabeth Reams living with George and Sarah b. ca 1844 1850 census Eliza Reams daughter of John Reams and Martha McGree b. ca 1843 I check the marriage books and there are about 5 marriages with the names of Elizabeth or Eliza Reams. Elizabeth Reams m. John D. Waters Mar. 15, 1865 Sharon this is your area so is this Elizabeth related to George and Sarah and is she the same one on the 1860 census living with them?? Eliza Reams Cole dau. of John Reams and Martha Patsy McGee married Tallifeno Hammond Elizabeth Ann Reams m Henry Wilson Baker (from my database) Elizabeth Reams b. ca. 1850 daughter of John Reams and Margaret Tomlinson (from my database) I'm sure there are more marriages. So it looks like there was more than one and to complicate matters the years of birth are reasonably close. Bill Whiteside, do you know of any connection? Susan

    2. Susan: Well, lets see: "Shade" is the grandfather of my husband. And I find it easier to trace all the children of Samuel trying to get all the information I can of this family. As to your questions: Joshua Bailey Austin born 1802 is the brother of William Harrison "Harris" Austin born 1810 Joshua B. Austin married Polly Ann Parmley born 1800 married in 1826 William H. Austin married Keziah/Kislah Parmley born 1813 We do list these ladies as daughters of Samuel & Rebekah Hawkins Parmley. However, we don't have them documented. Polly Ann is listed as also being married to a Mr. Reames in 1848. All these marriages are listed in the Illinois Archives Marriage Index Online.
