I have a sheet that I copied from the Pittsfield Library that is the cover sheet for the 1840 Census Index. It is a hand copied map of Pike County. It shows Pleasant Hill and not Fairfield. Also, it shows Old Pearl and Pearl and Pearl Landing. It is a very interesting map. The Library number is R---312.773 Har. The cover note is "Plus history of naming of the towns". Does anyone have any more of this census and the history of naming the towns as stated? ----- Original Message ----- From: Davis'es <davisg@ris.net> To: <ILPIKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 28, 2099 4:51 PM Subject: Re: [ILPIKE] fcruble > Jan, > I saw a reference dated 1836/7 where it was still called Fairfield. > > Jerry D > -----Original Message----- > From: Sunne2233@aol.com <Sunne2233@aol.com> > To: ILPIKE-L@rootsweb.com <ILPIKE-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: Tuesday, December 28, 1999 1:55 PM > Subject: Re: [ILPIKE] fcruble > > > >Pat, > >Do you know when Fairfield changed to Pleasant Hill? > >Jan in OK > > > > > >==== ILPIKE Mailing List ==== > >Illinois Statewide Marriage Index > >http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/marriage.html > > > > > > > ==== ILPIKE Mailing List ==== > Pike County ILGenWeb Home Page > http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilpike > >
