May 28, 1880: "James H. Johnson was born in Hadley, Illinois April 16, 1860, and died May 15, 1880, aged 20 years and 30 days. The deceased was under medical treatment most of the time for six years previous to his death. He grew much worse about two months before his death. In his long affliction he was most patient and resigned. Last fall he was walking the streets of Barry when he picked up a card out of the street; on it was printed Matt. vi:33. This lead to his conversion. His funeral sermon was preached by Elder C. Mason at New Philadelphia. After the sermon Mrs. William Green, by special request, made some remarks."
