Feb. 20, 1880: "David Cranson was born in Bedford county, Pa., November 12, 1818. He was married in Monroe county, Ohio, December 18, 1839, and moved to Pike county, Ill., in March, 1855, where he lived until his death. He professed religion and united with the M.E. church in Ohio in 1815. He was a quiet, hard-working man, respected by all who knew him. He was taken very ill with the lung fever only five days before his death while at work on the bottom. He leaves a wife and three living children to mourn the loss of a good father and faithful husband. His funeral was preached by the pastor of the M.E. church on Thursday afternoon of last week."
