He died in Pike Co, IL in 1854 and is buried in the Holford family Cemetery in Hardin Twp, Pike Co, IL. He may have been the son of Edward or Edwin Holford, and was likely brother of John Holford of NY and PA. Isaac was married twice in NY. His first wife's name is unknown to me. They had at least one son, Darius Holford born by 1799. Darius Holford married Elizabeth Hill in Clermont Co, OH 20 Mar 1828. They had at least five children; the eldest Elizabeth was born in Clermont Co, OH in Jan 1830. A daughter Clarinda was born about 1832 also in OH. A son Ira Allen was born 02 Sep 1834 in Pike Co, IL; he married Mary Applegate; he died near Nebo, Pike Co in 19 Mar 1908. Francis J (Frank) was born in Pike Co, IL in 1836; married Nancy Applegate; he died 02 Aug 1879 and is buried at Nebo Cem, Spring Creek Twp, Pike Co, IL. A daughter Martha A was born in Pike Co, IL in 1838; she married Daniel J Stark in Pike Co, IL 10 Dec 1854; she may have died before 1865. Darius Holford died 11 Jun 1840 and is buried in the Holford family cemetery. His daughter Elizabeth Holford died 25 Dec 1842 in Hardin twp, Pike Co, IL. His widow Elizabeth Hill Holford was living in 1880 in Pike Co, IL. Isaac may have been the father of Elijah Holford. Isaac was administrator of Elijah's estate in Seneca Co, NY and filed for his military pay due at Elijah's death. Elijah Holford was a volunteer in the war of 1812. He enlisted for six months service in Apr 1814, and was taken prisoner by the British near Fort Erie. He was sent to England on a prison ship. He died in Dartmoor Prison in Dec 1814. Elijah was likely Isaac's son. Isaac married a second time before 1808 in NY. This wife was Mary _____. They had two and perhaps three children befor they left NY and moved to Clermont Co, OH: Elizabeth born NY about 1808, married Joseph Myers who died about 1845 and is buried in Holford Cem in Hardin twp, Pike Co. They had at least six children: Mary A, Remay Adeline, Louis, Sarah all born in OH, Maria and Joseph Jr born in Pike Co, IL. The widow Elizabeth Myers married John Bostock in Pike Co, IL 11 Jul 1847; they had a son George Bostock. Isaac and Mary Holford's daughter, Lydia, was born in NY between 1802 and 1809. She married Solomon Dumford son of Solomon and Susannah Knott Dumford in Clermont Co, OH 26 Jul 1827. They had one daughter, Ora Ann Dumford born 26 Jul 1829 born in Clermont Co, OH. Then they moved to Pike Co, IL. (Ora Ann was my gt-gt-gt-grandmother.) Solomon asd Lydia Holford Dumford had at least nine children: 1. Ora Ann, married Reuben Cox Hendricks (born 12 Jan 1822 Randolph Co, NC) Hardin twp, Pike Co, IL 07 Apr 1844; they lived in Derry twp when they died; had 11 children. She died 18 Apr 1910; he died 08 Feb 1901; they are buried in Stoney Point Cem, Pleasant Vale twp, Pike Co, IL. 2. Susannah Jane Dumford, known as Jane, born in Pike Co about 1832, married John W Goings a widower with six children in Pike Co, 17 Aug 1855. Their son Isaac Solomon (Sol) Goings lived south of Barry and is buried in Park Lawn Cem in Barry. 3. Mary Elizabeth Dumford, born in Pike Co about 1834 married in Calhoun Co, IL to James G Anderson. 4. Isaac Solomon (Ike) Dumford, born 1836 in Pike Co, IL, served in Union Army in 99th ILL Vol Inf, married first Rachel Harrison 25 Sep 1866, second Rebecca Blair 23 Nov 1870; lived Vernon Co, MO in 1880, died in California. 5. Daniel H Dumford born 24 Apr 1839; married Remay Adeline Myers 07 May 1857 in Pike Co; lived at Barry then in Missouri; he died 07 Apr 1892 and is buried in Cresent Heights Cem, Pleasant Hill, IL. 6. Mariah A Dumford born Sep 1841 in Pike Co, IL; married Charles R Spicer 14 Jul 1861; he was a merchant; she died in California. 7. Lydia M Dumford, born abt 1844 in Pike Co, IL; married Job B Harrison 05 Mar 1863; he died 10 may 1877 and is buried in Stoney Point Cem, Pleasant Vale twp, Pike Co. She lived in Peru, Nebraska in 1880 and later married Colin N Campbell. 8. Melissa Evaline Dumford born abt 1850; married Ricjhard Low(E) in Oregon Co, Missouri; lived in Vernon Co, MO in 1880; died in California. 9. William S Dumford born abt 1848 and died 1850 Pike Co, IL may have been the ninth child of this family. In 1880 Solomon and Lydia Holford Dumford are listed in the Federal Census of Vernon Co, MO, along with several of their children all of whom moved to Southern California. I do not know when or where Lydia and Solomon died. Isaac and Mary Holford had a son Isaac Holford, Jr; he was married to Frances (Fanny) Sweeney in Pike Co, 03 Oct 1832; no other information. Their son Daniel was born abt 1815; he married Sarah (Sally) Ann Allison in Clermont Co, OH 10 Jul 1834; moved to Pike Co, IL where their son Richard was born; then they moved to Indiana before 1846 when their daughter Margaret Jane Holford was born on 11 Dec. Two other children of the family were: John Holford born in IN 25 Sep 1853 and David Noe Holford born in IN 20 Sep 1855. Daniel died in the Union Army 14 Sep 1864 at Baton Rouge, LA. His son Richard who was later a Minister in Indiana also served in the Union Army. Daniel and Sarah Allison Holford's daughter Margaret Jane married William H Leisure in 1866. William J Holford another son of Isaac and Mary lived in Pike Co, Morgan Co, IL before moving toTexas; he married Margaret Devold 02 mar 1837; their first child was Sarah S Holford born in Pike Co, IL 03 May 1838. Another son was Jeremiah H Holford; he married Gracy Ann Devold (Duvalld) 07 Nov 1838 in Pike Co, IL; de died in Texas. A daughter Maria Holford married John H Johnson in Pike Co, IL 15 Apr 1838. A son Ira Allen Holford was born in abt 1823 in Clermont Co, OH; he married Lydia Bowman in Pike Co, IL 30 Mar 1845; they had at least three sons: Samuel, Ely, and John. Another son was Thomas Minor Holford born 08 Jun 1824 in Clermont Co, OH; he married Susan Atchison in Morgan Co, IL in Oct 1845; they had at least five children in Pike Co, IL: James A, William, Thomas M, Mary (married Thomas W Neese in 1886, and Samuel. The youngest son was Joseph M Holford born about 1826 in Clermont Co, OH; married Ann Catherine Goings Barney, widow of John Barney in Pike Co, IL 31 Jul 1850; their children were: Moses, Martha (Mattie), Temperence Scott, John J, Francis (Frank) C Holford. Isaac Holford died in 1854 and is buried in the Holford Cem, which was on his farm in Hardin twp, Pike Co, IL. His wife Mary died 17 Sep 1858; she too was buried in the family cemetery.
