These are the ancestors of Rosella Metcalf, born 14 Jan 1843 near Barry, Pike Co, IL. Rosella's sister Mary Jane (Jennie) Metcalf, born 21 Mar 1847 in Barry twp, Pike Co, IL married Bela Smith Wright, 15 Sep 1878 at Barry. I assume you are descended from Bela and Jennie Wright through their son George Arthur Wright and his wife Effie M Hulse. This family is also mine. Rosella Metcalf married Albert Smith, son of George and Ruth Hawkins Smith, 24 Jun 1863. This Smith family was from near Utica, NY. Both George and Ruth Smith died there in 1841. Albert Smith and at least one sister, Mary E Smith and her husband James Fox came to Pike Co, IL and lived in Barry twp, north of the town of Barry by the late 1850's. Jim (1827-1878) and Mary Smith Fox (1831-1876) and a son Fred G Fox (died 1870 age 11 yrs)are buried in the Old Barry Cemetery. I am uncertain just when Albert Smith died; Rosella moved with several of her children to near Mena, Polk Co, AR at the turn of the century; she died there 31 Jul 1924 and is buried at Witherspoon Cem, at Vandervoort, AR. Albert and Rosella Metcalf Smith had four sons and two daughters all born north of Barry in Pike County, IL: George Eugene (Gene) born 14 Apr 1864; Frederick Alfred (Fred) born 06 May 1865, died 06 Dec 1944 in Polk Co, AR; Edgar Albert born 29 Dec 1866 and died 08 Mar 1910 at Black Springs, AR; Frank B born 24 Feb 1869, married Jennie Hallau of Barry in New Haven, CN in 1899, died 05 Jul 1948, buried Glenside, PA; Sarah Estella (Stella) born 08 Feb 1871, never married, died 30 May 1963 in Polk Co, AR; Mary Louella (Ella) born 17 Dec 1872, married Marion Hays of Barry, 28 Dec 1892 and died in Davenport, IA 17 Mar 1963. George Eugene Smith married Lillie Ann Triplett 18 Feb 1902, Barry, IL. They lived at Vandervoort, AR, Page, OK and Clarksville AK and later in Quincy, IL. They adopted my father, William Thomas Owens, son of Horton Monroe and Lucy O'Connor Owens. Gene and Lillie both died March 1953 in Quincy, IL. Most of my information came from Aunt Ella Hays, Aunt Stella Smith and several Wrights who lived in Barry. I would like to correspond with anyone related to these families.
