I hesitate to reply because what I have is not clear data. I have a diary of someone in 1862 that frequently states the Neff name. "I was introduced to Johnston Neff today". "I saw Harry Neff". "Charles Neff started his way to Marion County IL". "Lizzie Neff took dinner with us". "I got a letter form Mr. Neff with $8.25 or part of their rent of place in Ohio". "I wrote a letter to Charles Neff of Salem, Marion County". "Went to Fair in Pittsfield with Charles Neff". The diary writer was in the north east section of New Salem Township. I hope this does not confuse you as it is not clear data. Sometimes a little info will go a long way. Good Luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <CARRIKER6@aol.com> To: <ILPIKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2000 3:54 PM Subject: [ILPIKE] Neff > When I first started my research I had ask about the name Neff and got a lot > of response, but at the time all I new was that My Grandmother was Sara Opal > Neff Brunaugh, I now no that her father was James Benjamin Neff and He was > Married to Ina Myrtle Brinker if any of these names are familiar please write > I have come to another dead end but they are all from Pike Ill are Pike MO. > Pat C > > > ==== ILPIKE Mailing List ==== > USGS Mapping Service > http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html > List Manager: Barbara Freeman at Saxbury@aol.com > >
