In about 1862, the people of Pike County (or at least New Salem Twp) imposed a railroad tax on themselves. My relatives voted against the tax. Thanks for the article. I was wondering when the railroad was built when I read about the tax. I have a picture of the Maysville station and the jitney that went to Pittsfield from Maysville.
