    2. Davis'es
    3. Melody, 1. r right, Joseph Davis' first wife is Julia CLARK. Joseph's brother Jesse married Julia Miller. Uncle Butch has caught me making this same mistake. Late night typing is what I blame. 2. Louisa's mother was a sister of Joe's: Absalom and Louisa Davis, Joe's parents, had three daughters that we know of. 1850 - They had 2 daughters in the 1850 Hawkins Cnty, TN census, Elizabeth, age 12; and Eliza, age 7. 1860 - They had 2 daughter in the 1860 Jefferson Cnty, IL census Elizabeth, age 21; and Lucinda, age 8. 1864 - Elizabeth Davis married George Bigham in St Clair Cnty, IL. We think this is the oldest girl. We also got this marriage from family letters. May 1870 - Lucinda Davis married George Wood in Jefferson Cnty, IL. They later moved to Pike Cnty. We know they didn't die of scarlet fever. We have letters from Lucinda up into the 1900s Jun 1870 - Jefferson Cnty census a daughter, Elizabeth, age 24(?) is living at home with Absalom and Louisa. This could be the Eliza from the 1850 census? But where was she in the 1860 census, it is possible she was visiting elsewhere. We always thought she died before 1860. If you look in the IL state wide marriage index there are 3 marriages of Elizabeth Davis in Jefferson Cnty in the right time frame: 19 Sep 1860 Elizabeth Davis - Daniel Wingate 10 May 1861 Elizabeth J Davis - John B. Crowder 29 Sep 1870 Eliza E. Davis - James W. Denton 3 Sep 1871 Elizabeth Davis - William Lovin My first bet is Eliza E. Davis is Joe's sister. In 1850 she went by Eliza, and Joseph's and Julia Clark's(got it right this time, ha ha,) webbing was22 Sep 1970, a week before Eliza's. 2. Could Louisa be a daughter of Joe's brother's? We don't think so. Jesse - 1850 Hawkins Cnty census 1 brother Jasper (Jesse) age 4. We have tracked him through Jefferson Cnty, IL 1860; to marrying Julia Miller in 1868; to living in St Louis in the 1890s. 3. Could Louisa be a daughter of Julia Clark's brothers or sisters. Good Luck, Don't have any info. 4. Strange question: Louisa's adopted sister Maggie married Virgil Davis. Virgil's father was John W. Davis. We think Maggie's and Virgil's fathers were cousins, or 2nd cousins . Could Louisa be the daughter of one of Johns sisters or brothers? Louisa would probably call Joseph "Uncle" if she was the daughter of one of his cousins. Check Franklin Cnty, IL, some of them moved there. Just more confusing???
