In the early 1950's there was a black family living in that area named Washington. There kids went to Barry High School. Look in the old year books at the Barry library or at the high school and find what years they graduated and then find out who still lives there who went to high school with them. They should be pretty easy to locate. I'm sure they were descendents of F. M. who founded the town. A couple of years ago, one of the Washington woman came back and wrote a big article in some newspaper about growing up there. Older people in Barry should be able to help you out. Ask Marilyn Jones Barnes. She can probably direct you to people who know answers. Go into the restaurant at breakfast time (5-6 a.m) and talk to the oldest people there. They are a rich source of information.
