Aug. 1, 1890: "Died July 12, 1890, at her home in Grand Island, Neb., of consumption, Mrs. Amanda Halstead, wife of Benjamin Halstead. Amanda Parker was born in Adams county, Ill., Dec. 22, 1852; was married to Benjamin Halstead, September, 1874 at Pittsfield, Ill. She gave her heart to the Savior and united with the Baptist church in 1876. During her sickness, which was of nearly six months duration, she suffered much, but bore it with the fortitude and faith of an earnest Christian. Jst before she passed away she called her family to her bedside and ?? them to so live that they might meet her in heaven. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her loss. Her funeral was preached at the First Baptist, of which she was a member on the 14th, at 10am."
