Aug. 9, 1879, in part: "The deah of our mother, Mrs. Eliza A., wife of S.Q. Dutcher, at her residence a short distance east of Barry was announced last week. The subject of this obituary notice was born at Nassua, Rensselaer county, New York, August 25, 1814, and was married at Sand Lake, same county, September 6, 1837. Two years later she immigrated with her husband to Pike county, Illinois, and settled on a farm three miles east of Barry. In the month of February, 1857, they moved to what is now the old homestead. Here she lived and suffered for more than twenty years and until death at half past ten o'clock pm July 29, 1879, at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 4 days, relieved her of all her pain. She was mother to six children, two of whom are dead and now lie beside her in the Barry cemetery. The other four are living and together with her only son-in-law were present at her funeral. No matter how far fortune took the chil! dren from her, they always delighted to return at least once a year and pay her a visit, for to them she was always the kindest and best of mothers. In early life she was converted and united with the Methodist church. Not being satisfied with her baptism, she united with the Baptist church and continued a member till she came to this state. Here she united with the Christian church of which she remained a member until her death."
