IL, Thursday, Nov. 28, 1901: "Lula Smith was born in Ralls county, Mo., July 30, 1869, and died in Barry, Pike county, Ill., November 18, 1901, aged 32 years, 3 months and 19 days. She was married to Wm. Arnold August 20, 1889, and to this union were born six children. She united with the Christian church about eight years ago, of which she has been a faithful member, putting her trust in the Lord. During her sickness she expressed herself as being ready to go if it was the Lord's will, although she had so much to live for in her family. As a daughter she was kind and obedient, as a wife faithful and loving, and as a mother patient and devoted, one who lived for her husband and children. She bore her suffering with much patience, being ever cheerful and willing to do what was considered for her good. Deceased was a member in good standing of the Fraternal Army of America. There are left a husband, four children - Nola, Lilly, Charles and baby John - father, mother, grandfather and grandmother, two sisters and four brothers - Maggie, Harry and Willard, Mrs. Allie Burk, of Hannibal, and Geo. and Frank, of Covington, Ind., and many friends to mourn their loss."
