A Mrs. Mary Hampton married Gardner Mayes in 1854 in Pike County, so she was either a widow then or divorced from ?? Hampton. I also have an "Alice" Hampton (b. in Illinois, unknown dates) that married Green Smith 1870 in Macon County, MO. but both Green and Alice were born in Illinois - he in Morgan County and she ????
