Surnames: Hays, Bishop Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kg.2ADI/1514 Message Board Post: This is an obituary from the Barry Adage newspaper (Barry, Pike County, IL) Friday Dec. 14, 1884: "Mrs. Catharine Hays, a relict of the late Richard Hays, of Hadley Twp., died at the residence of her son, Albert, last Wednesday at the age of 78 years. About a week ago, she received a fall and was injured to such an extent that she failed to recover. Mrs. Hays' maiden name was Bishop, and she was a native of Virginia. In company with her husband and family, she came to Illinois from Ohio in 1846 and since that date has been a resident of Pike Co. She was the mother of a large family, a portion of which survives her. The funeral will take place today."
