Thurman, J. G. Webster, J. L. Craven, W. F. Colvin, and the writer. *************************** EDWARD F. BINNS pg 672 County Clerk, is a son of Randolph and Elizabeth (McGlosson) Binns, both natives of Virginia. They were among the pioneers of this county, having emigrated here as early as 1835. Edward F. was born in this county, Jan. 23, 1841; he passed his boyhood days upon the farm and attended the common schools; at the age of 23 he embarked in business for himself, beginning at that time to buy and ship stock, cattle, hogs, sheep and horses. These he shipped mostly to the Chicago market. He then engaged in the mercantile business for a period of a year and a half. He has held the offices of township Collector and Assessor, and in 1877 was elected to the responsible position which he now holds. In 1868 he was united in marriage with Orpha Norton, who was born in Indiana in April, 1840. To them were born 3 children, - Louisa, William S. and Bertha. Mr. B. is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and an active and prominent member of the Christian Church. *********************************** Wm. He was elected by a majority of 78. County Clerk Binns, however, who is a Democrat, was elected the same year by 666 majority.
