Hi Norm, That is amazing! Marvin was my father's 1st cousin, and Marvin took me to his church - the Church of Christ at Farmers Ridge - about 5 years ago. He also took me to a cemetery near the church where his grandparents (my GG-parents) are buried. I knew he died last year (1/21/99) and in fact I have a copy of his obituary, if you would like it. He was a real character, as you said, bib overalls and all. He was living in Nebo at that time. We also went to see a pair of stone railroad bridges in southern Pike county. Apparently the trains were not able to build up enough speed coming around the corner to get up the grade on the first bridge. The had to build a second bridge about 100 feet away. We went under the bridges and he was totally lost. He had lived his entire life in Pike county, only a few miles from the bridges, and he had never seen them before and had never been on the other side. Have you seen them? So far I have not received an answer to my question about the Church of Christ at Farmer's Ridge, so I may take you up on that offer. I am also trying to figure out where the cemetery was located - Marvin drove his pickup truck across a field, and I opened a gate along the way to the cemetery. Can anyone identify that cemetery for me. It may be in Northern Calhoun county, but I'm pretty sure it was in Pike county, not far from the church. Thanks for responding. You made my day!
