Mr. Smith had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services were held at the Griggsville Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Samuel J. Buck officiating. Interment was in Griggsville cemetery, in charge of Robert Skinner. Mr. Smith was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith of Nebo, and was born July 12, 1896. He spent his early life in Pike county. He taught school for six years at Williamsville before going to Griggsville five years ago, where he has been manager of the nation wide grocery. Mr. Smith was active in civic affairs, and all projests that were for the betterment of the community. He servered as president of the Griggsville Chamber of Commerece last year but gave up the office because of ill health. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellis Smith; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith of Nebo; two brothers and one sister, Harvey of Nebo, Marion of California, and Mrs. Jessie Sheppard of Time.
