Jean were held at 2:30 last Tuesday afternoon at the New Canton church, Rev. Bilby in charge. Interment was in Shearer cemetery. Mr. Jean's death which occured Sunday May 7th was due to a heart attack. He was 73 years old. He was born in New Canton, son of Joseph V. and Sarah Ann White Jean. He is survived by three children, Gerald W. Jean of Pontiac, Estella M. Hurst and Mary E. Woodworth of Barry; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Flora Lewton of Springfield, Mrs. Louise Fisher of Camp Point, Mrs. Frances Boyd of Barry. Mr. Jean's entire life was spent in New Canton, where he carried mail on the rual route 17 years. Among those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Jean of Pontiac, Mrs. Iola Jean Johnson of Springfield, Mr. and Mrs. James Fisher of Camp Point.
