He has passed in and out of this community all these years. There are many friends who would echo the remark of one expressed recently, "A kinder hearted man never lived." Mr. Schwartz met with an accident in the early spring, which is thought to be largely, if not altogether, the cause of his death. Yet his serious illness was only of five weeks duration. Kind hands ministered to his every need, and the advice of skilled physicians was sought in the hopes of recovery, but all efforts were in vain. And quietly, peacefully the spirit left the tird body which was "laid in the beautiful little cemetery, where both his father and mother rest. The wife of his early manhood, one son Hiram, a brother John, and sister Mary have preceded him in death. There are left to mourn his loss, his wife, two sons, Louis, of Chelalis Wash., and Wallace of Bisbee, Ariz. and one daughter, Mrs. Virigan Valjean of Los Angles, Calif.; one brother, Dr. G.W. Schwartz and a sister Mrs. Lucy Shaw, both of this county. Mr. Schwartz was a member of the Summer Hill Congregational church, being at one time a decon and clerk. But of late years he had given up active church work. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and in his younger years was a very enthusiastie worker in the lodge, holding various offices, being Master several times. The esteam in which he was held was manifested at his last birthday, when the members of the lodge with their wives met at his home and spent the evening with him.
