Dear Vanette, I am not researching the Read family. My grandmother left a lot of notes on scraps of paper and book margins etc. and one of the references was to an Asahel Read. My father was named Asahel and because that is an unusual name I was curious about the man. I think there is a connection between his mother and my Jeffers or Pine line but I would have to check it out. My great grandmother who lived in Baylis had a strange hobby...she kept a journal of deaths and marriages from the area. I have the journal but haven't indexed it yet. I will look up the name you mentioned and post an answer if I find out anything about them. I also have a booklet written about the Jeffers family called Biography of the Jeffers Family. It has quite a few names from Pike county and I will look there too. Give me a few days and I will get back to you.
