Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kg.2ADI/1539 Message Board Post: John Kerr Jan. 20, 1913 John Kerr, son of John and Eliza Kerr, was born in Loudonberry Ireland Dec. 24, 1842, and departed this lofe at the Soldiers Home in Quincy Il. Jan. 20, 1913, aged 70 years and 26 days. He emigrated to America with his parents when only two years of age and they located in Derry township south of Shaws school house where they cleared a farm and continued to reside until their deaths many years ago. The subject of our sketch was married to Rhoda Dolbeare April 9, 1876 to this union 3 children were born, two dying in infancy and William H. who resides on the home place and carries on the work of the farm. His wife died three years ago on Christmas day. The following spring Mr. Kerr went to the Soldiers Home at Quincy where he seem to be contented and remained until his death. He has suffered from a slow paralysis for several years, but was able to get about and enjoy himself until two weeks before his death when he contracted a cold and grippe which rapidly depleted his ! strength. Mr. Kerr enlisted in Company D, 99th Regiment Illinois Col. Inftry. and served thre years being honorably discharged. He was a member of the John McTucker G.A. R. Post of this city. Funeral services were held from the Christian churc at 2:00 p.m. in charge Rev. H.L. Maltman and burial was made in Barry Cemetery. Barry Adage
